My Father fought in the Korean Conflict and WWII. He spent 14 months at the front and experienced many atrocities. He traveled the world in the Merchant Marines before he was drafted into the army. Sometimes late at night, when I was a little girl, he would tell me some stories from the wars he had seen. On this Veteran's Day I am thinking of him and remembering one of the greatest men I have ever known. Not only was he a good soldier, but he was a loving and guiding influence in my life. From him I learned to work hard and to have respect for the land, my country and for others. Today I salute my Dad.
